I have never written a negative review of anything before, but felt compelled to after dealing with Kenney and Everest’s clownery. Avoid this company at all costs. They are incredibly scammy and unprofessional, will waste your time, cost you money, and generally add stress for seemingly no reason. They are a black hole of suck, stay away. Our previous landlord used them to manage our lease and every interaction with them was so unnecessarily confusing and scammy. They provided shady and conflicting information about security deposit refunds, lied to us, attempted to charge fees that were illegal, and wound up costing me quite a bit of money due to their delays and general sketchiness. When we were moving out they hosted open houses while we were still in the unit, their agents knew nothing about the apartment and left the open house before the open house was over. Prospective tenants would come back to our apartment to ask questions because they could not get answers from Kenney and Everest, many also wanted to know if the listing was a scam because of how scammy their interactions with Kenney and Everest had been. The audacity to charge large brokers fees while not knowing anything about the units they are renting, or the basics of updating a lease, or the move out process, or general legalities of sf real estate is wild. They’re also super rude on top of being incompetent and sketchy. From both a tenant and a landlord perspective I would avoid them.

First, they posted a listing with parking, that never had parking, and then laughed it off during the tour. Then asked for a non-refundable "brokerage fee" of more than a month rent ($5500), which they said was dependant on how much interest they got. Don't be fooled, this company is a scam!

I want to warn anyone thinking about dealing with this rental broker and his group. My experience was extremely disappointing and felt very misleading. He charged me a broker fee and promised that certain repairs in the unit would be taken care of after I moved in. Based on those assurances, I agreed to the rental and paid the fee. However, once I moved in and started asking about the repairs that were promised, his attitude completely changed. Instead of helping resolve the issues, he told me to stop asking the landlord to make repairs and essentially disappeared from communication. After collecting the broker fee, he offered no support and did not stand behind what he promised. When I eventually filed a petition regarding the conditions and the situation with both the landlord and the broker he works with, he completely stopped responding. In my opinion, this experience felt like dealing with a scammer. Charging a broker fee while making promises about repairs that are never honored is unacceptable. I strongly recommend that renters be extremely careful and get everything in writing before trusting this broker or his group.
